📘 ”Lifting Work — A Rookie’s Introduction” is a practical guide to working under the hook. It’s written for people who have just started on site, but it works just as well as a refresher for experienced riggers and for supervisors who are expected to oversee lifts.
🔍 The aim is to explain what actually happens during a lift, and why it needs planning, judgement and someone taking responsibility. Everything in it comes from real situations on real sites, written by a tower crane operator with over twenty years behind the levers.

- Hand signals, their shortcomings, and why the radio beats them
- How to use a two-way radio and how to direct a lift over it
- What the crane operator can and cannot see from up there
- Lifting accessories: carts, skips, slings, chains and shackles
- The most common lifts, and the most common ways they go wrong

The guide is still a work in progress and not finished. The subject is a wide one and time is limited, but even as it stands it gives a beginner a solid footing.
